Argentina’s all-time great forward Lionel Messi said that Major League Soccer or MLS franchise Inter Miami could be the last club of his decorated career.
The all-time record eight-time Ballon d’Or winner is approaching the sunset of his magnificently dominant career. But before he finally hangs up his boots for one final time, he will get a chance to hold another Copa America title with Argentina.
While extending his form at the international level as well as the club level, Messi spoke about his future and confessed that he was not ready to leave football.
According to Lionel Messi at ESPN Argentina “I’m not prepared to leave football, I did this all my life, I enjoy the training, the games. The fear that everything’s is going to be over, it’s always there. I think Inter Miami is going to be my last club,”
His compatriot Julian Alvarez has already spoken on the possible future of the talismanic forward and all the speculations linking Messi as a part of the Argentine plans in the years to come.
According to Alvarez at ESPN. “Let’s hope so. He’s going to decide until when, but we want him to be there, it’s better, “
Messi has won 180 caps for the Argentina team and scored 106 goals in the international circuit. In the goal scoring chart of the international stage, he is placed third highest with only two players ahead of him, that is Ali Daei and Cristiano Ronaldo
Lionel Messi scored 13 goals with 11 assists in Inter Miami when he appeared in 18 matches in the MLS. He was this year named the best FIFA Men’s 2023 player after he beat Erling Halaand and Kylyan Mbappe to emerge at the top for the third time during his glittering career.
He became the first ever player to have won such an award while playing in the MLS.
All the top three players, Messi, Mbappe, and Halaand didn’t turn up at the ceremony in London. The 36-year-old remained in Miami for their first preseason game of the 2024 campaign. ANI
